\"TheA year has passed since the last adventure of the Thursday Murder Club–and since Stephen’s death. <\/p>\n

And Joyce’s daughter is getting married.<\/p>\n

It’s at the wedding that the best man (having heard about the Thursday Murder Club from Paul) goes to Elizabeth for help.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo where is the bomb now?\u201d Elizabeth asks.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow?\u201d says Nick. \u201cI left it just where it was. I couldn\u2019t stick it in the recycling.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou left it where it was? There is a live bomb still attached to your car?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a wedding to go to,\u201d says Nick, motioning over his shoulder.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth nods. \u201cAnd if it should go off sometime today\u2014bombs do, you know\u2014you\u2019ll be fine with it killing one of your neighbors?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI live on Hampton Road,\u201d says Nick.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth understands. Big houses, big grounds. If the bomb were to go off, the worst that would happen is that someone complained about the noise.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the aftermath of that, Jason shows up at Ron’s place with Kendrick, saying Suzi had some things to deal with. Ron knows there’s something going on, but no one will tell him what.<\/p>\n

How far are we from Fairhaven?\u201d she asks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom Fairhaven, Danny, what do you think? If someone was angry and driving fast. Twenty minutes?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s in Fairhaven?\u201d Danny asks.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy brother,\u201d she says. \u201cI just sent him the photo.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We also get to see Bogdan, although less of Donna and Chris than in the past.<\/p>\n

Donna can do a neat act of wide-eyed, hapless local copper, but this is a woman who has Bogdan, of all people, trailing in her wake. Woman to woman, Joanna has to respect that level of game.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As with the previous book, the story ranged far and wide, and I was never quite sure who the murderer was, and was (of course) worried the reveal would hurt someone.<\/p>\n

But what I loved most was how funny it was.<\/p>\n

You know women,\u201d said Ron.<\/p>\n

\u201cUp to a point,\u201d said Ibrahim.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Up to a point indeed.<\/p>\n
