There was nothing at all wonderful about Jeremy Kite now.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The problem is that it must have been one of their group who murdered him, and Jem doesn&#8217;t know who could have done it.<\/p>\n<p>And as with young adults, there was so much happening underneath everything that complicated everything.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nicky watched Toby, and Jem knew it because he watched Nicky.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The story is both the slow discovery of who murdered Toby and why, and also what the suspicion did to all of them.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He was frightened, and, once he recognised that, he realised he\u2019d been frightened for a very long time, at a level so deep he hadn\u2019t known it.
