The world to me exists only in varying shades of gray, and I have a difficult time seeing in places with bright lights because the rods aren\u2019t meant for daylight purposes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cWhy, Neil?\u201d I repeated. <\/p>\n

\u201cBecause I hear he\u2019s a homophobe,\u201d Neil said. <\/p>\n

Without thinking I replied, \u201cYou\u2019re a homophobe.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why had we been fighting so much? My good old dad said it was because I was losing my mind being shoved back into the closet for the sake of Neil\u2019s paranoia.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Max dropped a box in the back, and the crash echoed through the shop. Calvin startled abruptly, almost comically, and dropped his coffee. The lid popped off, and the hot liquid shot all over my counter. He was frozen in place for just a second, long enough for me to see the noise had actually, truly, frightened him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My doctor was explaining to Pop and me that because of the bump on my head, and the fact that I had been sick and lost consciousness, it was a sign of a serious concussion that he felt was best monitored by authorized personnel for twenty-four hours.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
