Is the goblin going to be able to solve the case?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Is that the Gatewarden? A goblin?\u201d stage-whispered the young warden.<\/p>\n<p>Zyll\u2019s long, pointed ears caught the murmuration of uncomfortable shrugs that followed. She didn\u2019t bother turning around.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is my favorite story in the book. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Characters<\/strong>: Zyll, Ivorine, Xanthus, Cerise, Bartholomew, Azula, Magentum, Olivus, Bradlee, Cuthbert<\/p>\n<p><strong>Just a Thimbleful<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>How Thimble came to work at Legends &#038; Lattes.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Every imagined future flavor was one he could taste in his mind, without doubt, the only possible ending of a journey from humble beginnings to golden flake.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This was my second favorite story&#8211;I really liked seeing things from Thimble&#8217;s PoV.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Characters<\/strong>: Thimble, Maddie, Penton, Viv<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pages to Fill<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This I&#8217;d read before as it&#8217;s a bonus in one of the books.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>You check the books for what somebody used to know. You check with the Scholar for what somebody knows now.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Characters<\/strong>: Roon, Viv, Fennus, Gallina, Taivus, Bodkin, Leyton, Valeya<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mirograph<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This story was supposed to be a glimpse at Tandri&#8217;s past, but instead of telling us anything much about Tandri, it&#8217;s really a rant about AI.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Characters<\/strong>: Prof. Almeda Dupesne, Tandri, Gadsby<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cavaliers &#038; Coffees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is an epilogue of sorts to <a href=\"https:\/\/klishis.com\/reading\/archives\/21483\"><em>Legends &#038; Lattes<\/em><\/a> but coming after <em>Mirograph<\/em>&#8216;s heavy-handed moral about AI, this read as a complaint about IP theft rather than adding much to the characters or the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Characters<\/strong>: Thimble, Viv, Cal, Delma, Ludo, Rufeus Redfell, Arden, Pendry, Laney, Madrigal<\/p>\n<p>As much as I liked the first two stories, closing on two stories I didn&#8217;t like left me with a somewhat negative impression of the anthology.<\/p>\n<p>Cover and interior illustrations by Leesha Hannigan<\/p>\n<p>Publisher: Subterranean Press<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rating: 7.5\/10<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tales from the Territory (2026) Travis Baldree (Legends &#038; Lattes) Goblins &#038; Greatcoats There has been a terrible murder.
