{"id":2998,"date":"2012-06-16T15:57:30","date_gmt":"2012-06-16T19:57:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/klishis.com\/reading\/?p=2998"},"modified":"2021-06-04T13:25:26","modified_gmt":"2021-06-04T17:25:26","slug":"the-age-of-doubt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/klishis.com\/reading\/archives\/2998","title":{"rendered":"The Age of Doubt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0143120921\/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=randomreading-20&#038;linkCode=as2&#038;camp=1789&#038;creative=390957&#038;creativeASIN=0143120921\">The Age of Doubt<\/a><\/em> (2008\/2012) <a href=\"http:\/\/klishis.com\/Books\/mystery\/camilleri_andrea.php\">Andrea Camilleri<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2icek5G\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/klishis.com\/reading\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Age-Doubt.jpg?resize=198%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7347\" \/><\/a>I think one of the things I like about this series is that Andrea Camilleri hasn&#8217;t felt the need to rehabilitate Montalbano&#8211;he&#8217;s still a bastard, and still talks without thinking, but he&#8217;s also still good at his job, despite the fact he has to be close to retirement at this point.<\/p>\n<p>A terrible storm has caused all kinds of problems, including washing out part of Inspector Montalbano&#8217;s road, and leading to the discovery of a body on a dinghy floating its way out to sea. The discovery of the body alone isn&#8217;t the problem&#8211;a greater problem is that a bedraggled, flooded-out woman Montalbano takes pity on seems to know more about the ship that found the body than seems reasonable, which leads Montalbano to wonder what is really going on.<\/p>\n<p>The other important thread of the story is Montalbano&#8217;s obsession with getting older.
