Samhain Publishing, Ltd? They print erotica. So you have been warned.<\/p>\n<p>But here&#8217;s the thing. I really really like her world building.<\/p>\n<p>Wild West, except that vampires exist in the wilds, and frontier towns are subject to raids by the vampires. So a guild is formed and created bloodhounds to fight the vampires.<\/p>\n<p>Bloodhounds are essentially werewolves, with senses attuned to vampires. But the Bloodhounds are subject to the pull of the moon. At the full moon they become monsters, at the new moon, they suffer irresistible sexual appetites. (I did mention this was erotica.)<\/p>\n<p>I find myself fascinated by her world. By a guild that recruits broken men and turns them into monsters who exist to save people from vampires.<\/p>\n<p>And although these are stand-alone books, the story builds upon the previous books, both in the stories of the secondary characters, and as we learn more about the Guild that created and controls the bloodhounds.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, Kierkegaard:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;He died, Ophelia. I died. My heart stopped beating. Who&#8217;s to say I&#8217;m even me? Maybe my soul&#8217;s already escaped and I&#8217;m just an echo. An after-image, and I&#8217;ll never experience an unfamiliar thought or create anything new, ever again, because I have to live within what I&#8217;ve already been.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He sounded like Kierkegaard as he struggled for purpose in his new embodiment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s the stuff that interests me.
