I mostly review adult and YA books, but because there are a lot of kids in my life, there are also a lot of kids books in my life, so here are some books for the kids in your life.<\/p>\n

Books for Kids Part I<\/a><\/p>\n

These are some good books for pre-schoolers and middle grade readers:<\/p>\n

\"Dont-Let-Pigeon-Drive-Bus\"<\/a>Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus<\/a><\/em> by Mo Willems<\/p>\n

This is another fun book to read with kids–especially if you can get them to talk back to the pigeon, who begs and pleads to drive the bus.<\/p>\n

He also writes the Elephant and Piggie series for kids, such as We Are in a Book!<\/a><\/em> (I really love We Are in a Book!<\/em>)<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

\"strega_nona\"<\/a>Strega Nona<\/a><\/em> by Tomie dePaola<\/p>\n

I’m a huge fan of old world tales, and this tale of Strega Nona–Grandmother Witch–is a lovely one that has parts of folk tales you may already be familiar with (at least I was familiar with). <\/p>\n

\"story-of-ferdinand\"<\/a>The Story of Ferdinand<\/a><\/em> by Munro Leaf <\/p>\n

Ferdinand the Bull doesn’t want to fight, he just wants to smell the flowers and appreciate the beauty of the world.<\/p>\n

\"mike-mulligan-steam-shovel\"<\/a>Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel<\/a><\/em> by Virginia Lee Burton <\/p>\n

This is another favorite from my childhood. I adore the steam shovel, Mary Anne, and how hard they work together.<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

\"caps-for-sale\"<\/a>Caps for Sale: A Tale of a Peddler, Some Monkeys and Their Monkey Business<\/a><\/em> by Esphyr Slobodkina <\/p>\n

This is another story from my childhood. A hat peddler stops to take a nap, and while he sleeps, a bunch of monkeys steal his caps. The story is funny, but I love the pictures. I mean, of course<\/em> a cap peddler would walk from town to town wearing all his caps piled one atop another on his head!<\/p>\n

I also love the fact that the illustrations take place in no known country that I can think of–and that mustache!<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

\"Tikki_Tikki_Tembo\"<\/a>Tikki Tikki Tembo<\/a><\/em> by Arlene Mosel and illustrated by Blair Lent<\/p>\n

This is a recreation of a Chinese folktale, and it’s another fun one to read aloud, reciting the boys name.<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

\"frederick\"<\/a>Frederick<\/a><\/em> by Leo Lionni <\/p>\n

Ah, Frederick the mouse!<\/p>\n

I love Leo Lionni’s art, and he has other books from which to choose, like Swimmy<\/a><\/em>, which is also delightful.<\/p>\n
