Hellboy<\/a>: The Midnight Circus<\/a><\/em> (2013) Mike Mignola, Duncan Fegredo, Dave Stewart<\/p>\n

\"HellboyMidnightCircus\"<\/a>Couple things about this: 1) It came out as hardback. 2) I purchased the kindle version, because it was cheaper than the hardback (and by now we should all know my feelings about hardback books). 3) This is more of a novella than regular Hellboy collection. So I enjoyed it, but was also all, “Wait, it’s over? That’s it?” But that might also be a symptom of reading on the kindle. I have yet to really enjoy<\/em> reading comics on the kindle.<\/p>\n

This story is set just a few years after Hellboy’s discovery\/arrival on earth, and Hellboy is a child.<\/p>\n



\n\"HELLBOY-2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

He sneaks out one night (his sneaking out involves a bit more than that of your average child) and stumbles onto a circus. <\/p>\n

Unfortunately for him, the midnight circus is operated by people who know well who Hellboy is, and someone of them don’t have his best interests in mind.<\/p>\n

Of course, some of the people at BPRD don’t have his best interests in mind either.<\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

\"HELLBOY-4\"<\/a>There are some lovely illustrations, one of my favorite being a young Hellboy visiting the Hall of Mirrors.<\/p>\n

It’s a story full of dark hints as to the battles that will occur over and about Hellboy–how no one or Earth or in Hell is particularly happy with how things are going with him. But it’s an adorable glance into his childhood.<\/p>\n

It was just way shorter than I was expecting.
