Sebastian Kennett is responsible for the arrest of Jess&#8217; father&#8211;as Cinq, whose traitorous deeds lead to the sinking of many ships and the deaths of many he called friends.<\/p>\n<p>I <em>really<\/em> like Jess.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There her dress was, a heap of slit-up rags on the carpet. \u201cMy dress got wet, so you cut it off. You must be a right terror in a thunderstorm.\u201d A prudent woman in her situation wouldn\u2019t embark upon sarcasm.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>ALSO, if you read the first in the series, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/klishis.com\/reading\/archives\/5099\">The Spymaster\u2019s Lady<\/a><\/em>, we get more Adrian.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Adrian joined him at the window. \u201cI\u2019ll see you in Garnet Street at midnight, outside the (N) warehouse. What does one wear to ransack a warehouse? Black, I think, and the charcoal waistcoat. Tasteful, yet understated.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe evidence says he\u2019s Cinq.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cForget the evidence. I spread my own entrails over the rocks and took auspices. My guts are never wrong.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>My ghod I love that character.<\/p>\n<p>But truly, Jess is the heart of the story, and the best part.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou have copies of their bank accounts. How the damn hell did you get hold of that?\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cBribery, mostly.
