You didn\u2019t steal car stereos, for the simple reason that they didn\u2019t exist.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s interesting to see how frequently people bemoan the decay of civilization and look fondly back at the good-old-days, which really weren&#8217;t that good.<\/p>\n<p>The Man on the Beach, is set in 1987, and finds Wallander in Ystad, with Mona and Linda away on a vacation that is really a trial separation.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDid he have any children?<br \/>\n\u201cOne son.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019d better find him, then.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cThat won\u2019t be possible,\u201d Hansson said.<br \/>\n\u201cWhy not?\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cBecause he\u2019s dead.\u201d Wallander could sometimes get very annoyed by Hansson\u2019s roundabout way of coming to the point. This was one of those occasions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Death of the Photographer, is set in April 1988 in Ystad. Was the most interesting mystery of the stories.
