Thor Vol 1: Goddess of Thunder<\/a><\/em> (2015) Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman <\/p>\n

\"thor-cover\"<\/a>I picked this up after reading the first bit in A-Force Presents<\/a> which was a lovely introduction to some of Marvel’s female heroes.
<\/p>\n

I initially wasn’t sure about Thor, because there was a good amount of background that I was missing, but I went ahead and ordered the first volume anyway, and while at loose ends, finally got around to reading it.

I quite enjoyed it, much to my surprise.

It’s possible that my familiarity with Norse mythology made it easier to pick things up, despite missing the background. (Ice Giants. Odin got rid of them, of course they’d be pissed if they came back.)
<\/p>\n

But what I particularly ended up enjoying was Freyja, wife of Odin. Like the wives of most gods, she’s spent millenia with a husband who sees her as a minor character, so her reactions to him are pretty awesome. Personally, I think she’d be MORE pissed off and smarky, but then, it’s not like she’s had to put up with all the shit Hera has with Jupiter, so all-in-all: fun.<\/p>\n
