Considering the fact that the grocery was a known front for a local crime family, the man&#8217;s death didn&#8217;t come as much of a surprise as it was assumed he had arranged the theft himself and then regretted turning on the Cuffaros.<\/p>\n<p>We get Montalbano at his most irritable (at least the fights with Livia didn&#8217;t stem as much from nothing as in previous books (but I still don&#8217;t understand why they&#8217;re together)). <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI had it made for a normal tape recorder, since you would never be able to figure out how to use the digital kind.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs far as that goes, I don\u2019t know how to use the normal kind either.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We get Fazio.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSo what should be done, in your opinion?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cUselessness should be abolished.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCome on, Chief, that\u2019s not possible.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy not?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause uselessness is an integral part of man.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And of course Catarella.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cCat, what\u2019s this, in your opinion?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Catarella didn\u2019t hesitate for a second. \u201cChief, \u2019at\u2019d be a didgytel recorder.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeaning?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanin\u2019 iss a mottified impy tree.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd what\u2019s a modified impy tree?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIss a mottified impy tree, Chief.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And random bits of Montalbello being himself.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAn accountant!\u201d he howled, leaping to his feet with eyes bulging. <\/p>\n<p>Fazio just looked at him, a furrow appearing in the middle of his brow. <\/p>\n<p>Mim\u00ec made light of the situation. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalm down, Salvo! What\u2019s wrong with you? Accountants aren\u2019t some sort of endangered species.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I really do love this series, though I know the number of books left are limited, since Andrea Camilleri is now in his 90s.
