My Fabulous Weekend, Part I: Newport Aquarium

Those of you who follow me on Twitter probably noticed I was in Cincinnati for the weekend. What I was doing was visiting friends (Susan, Andy, Heather & Andy & Heather’s offspring), and eating my weight in ice cream.

It was a very good weekend.

Saturday was gorgeous, and we all went to the aquarium. Although she wasn’t too sure about me at first, Natalie quickly warmed up to me (I swear, it’s the hair. Kids are fascinated by my hair.) which made the aquarium even more fun.

The jellyfish exhibit is my favorite part of the aquarium. Unfortunately, few of the pictures turned out well. I just love watching them move, it’s so relaxing.

In the lorikeet exhibit you can feed the birds. Not my favorite part, but it’s nice that it’s hands on. (Natalie wasn’t too impressed with most of the hands on activities.)

Michael took a lot of pictures of various fish. You can click on through to Flickr to see more.

Natalie was a little unsure, at first, about being actually allowed to bang on things in public. She got over it.

In the room with the alligators, you could walk over a section of floor and look down at the alligators swimming beneath.

Natalie loved this part.

I made another friend (I’m telling you, it’s the hair), who was a little too nervous to walk onto the see-through portion.

Why yes, it WAS awesome!
