The End of Michelle’s Week of Fun
Tonight was Peking Acrobats.
To say that the Arts Series is unevenly spaced is putting it mildly. We went four months without going to a show, then we get two in one week.
But that’s fine, because it was all fun.
Peking Acrobats were great! I love circus performances as long as they’re humans only. Something about animal trainers kinda bothers me. But feats of acrobatics and daring do? Bring it on!
Almost as entertaining were the kids behind us (except when they were screeching. That was no good.) During one of the first tumbling acts, one kid kept saying, “I can do that! I can do that!” To which I thought, “sure you can kid.” So when they got to jar balancing act, I whispered to Michael, “I can see those parents behind us are going to end up with broken crockery.” That was followed by the plate balancing, which was pretty amazing, since he had about 30 plates going at once) and I whispered to Michael, “and broken plates too.”
So if you here a lot of aggravated yelling from this end of the country this weekend, you’ll know what it was.
I have to say though, that for the most part I was more impressed by the women than the men. In the second half they did parallel acts, such as chair balancing and jar spinning, and I just found what the women did to be more impressive. Probably because they did more work together.
Regardless, it was a fantastic show (I’m going to use up my supply of positive adjectives at this rate) and I highly recommend it if you get the opportunity to see it.
