As warned, I had a very busy weekend. We traveled to Charleston for Michael’s mother’s wedding, and the associated visit with various family members.
Rehearsal Friday night, and then we hung out with Michael’s sister and her family. Wedding Saturday followed by a small family get together at Michael’s sister’s house. Then mandatory (and I do mean mandatory) church attendance, followed by breakfast Sunday morning. Very busy weekend, but it was lovely to see Michael’s sister and her family, and Michael’s grandmother, who is very sweet. And it was of course wonderful to be present for Michael’s mother’s remarriage.
The wedding was very small—family only—but nice. I took pictures, although since I didn’t use the flash during the ceremony, several were unfortunately blurry. The bride and groom were both very happy and looked lovely, as did everyone else in the wedding party. I downloaded the pictures last night, but was too tired to do anything other than delete the super blurry pictures.
As we somehow neglected to bring enough clothes to wear, we ended up running to Kanawha City mall after the wedding to get something else to wear. Joy! It’s WVs tax-free weekend! Everything was on sale! We now have clothes to wear for the rest of the weekend. We also stopped at Flatwoods and at Meadowbrook on the way home, and now Michael finally has enough shirts. I think I’ve had more than enough clothes shopping for the next several months at least. But Michael did look quite sharp, and I was pleased that we could throw together an outfit each that looked quite sharp, in under an hour, from clothes that were on sale.
But mostly, I’m still tired. As pleasant as any trip may be, there’s nothing like coming home to your own bed (and shower and sofa…)
Don’t look here for entertainment. You’ll be disapointed.
I am definitely not cool.
Everytime I read the title of this post over at Making Light, I see World Congo-ing, and start thinking about drums.
(sigh)
It’s a sickness I tell you! Something I have little control over! I can’t help myself!
Yes, I bought another jacket. I’m not that out of control yet—no Imelda Marcos of coats—but I have to admit that if I have one clothing weakness it’s coats and jackets. Last night’s purchase was black cotton blazer—the brushed cotton that’s so very soft. I had already convinced myself that I needed a new jacket, so I didn’t have too far to fall.
But it’s a very nice jacket, even if I did buy is a couple of sizes to big to fit over multiple shirts (yes, I work in a place of excessive air conditioning, where two shirts are a necessity all year round.) AND, unusual enough in a women’s jacket, there are two large pockets. I typically buy men’s jackets, because they have lots of roomy pockets—space, for stuff like chapstick, and my cell phone and stuff like that.
So I now have a nice new black jacket, unlined, and quite sharp looking. Which means I’m good for another few weeks.
Until I again start my search for a new pea coat. A thick, heavy, black one, with big buttons and several pockets, that will last for years. And the new leather jacket, I also need a new leather jacket…
I found the results of this quiz quite amusing.

My grandmother is visiting. Blogging will be sporadic to non-existant while she’s around. (She’s staying with us now, will visit my brother for a few days, and then back to visit us.)
If you want to get in the spirit of things, you can talk about books and play cards until late into the night. (Assuming that you consider midnight to be late into the night.)
I just redid my blogroll. Added some new places. Did a bit of rearranging. Once again noticed that weblog names seem frequently be of similar length, with the occasional outlier on the long end. (For example, I shortened Adventures of Accordion Guy in the 21st Centry and Happy Furry Puppy Story Time with Norbizness to fit. [Good grief. I just found another spelling/typing error in my blogroll that’s been there for awhile. (That’s the one thing I miss about writing everything in Arachnophilia–the spell checker.)])
Nothing here except time wasting, move along….

I only worked two days this week. I shouldn’t be longing for the weekend quite this much…..
Man, I do not want to get back into the swing of things. I’m a little tired, and a lot lethargic.
But, on a happier note, my gladiolas and black eyed susans are blooming.
I’ll be glad when this stinkin’ cold is GONE.
And now for some quizzy slacking. Since I’ve been working so hard, y’know.

I’m sick of being sick.
But I have, however, managed to read 16 Robert B. Parker Spenser books. So the weekend has not been a complete waste.
Right now I’m almost finished with Stardust, and hoping to rush through these books in the middle that aren’t quite as good.
Enjoy the holiday if you’re taking it.
Happy Birthday Kathy!
Happy Canada Day!
(and happy birthday to ME!)
