Weekend Travels: DC Monuments
We took a long weekend and spent two days wandering around the Washington DC Mall. Although it was cool, the weather was so lovely we spent almost all our time outside.
We so most of the major monuments, including the WWII Memorial and the MLK Jr Memorial, neither of which was on the Mall last time we visited.
The Washington Monument is visible from just about everywhere.

I’m going to be rather busy for the next several days, so I’m not sure I’m going to get to the scavenger hunt this week.

WWA: New Books Edition
I got TWO brand new releases yesterday, and had difficulty deciding which to read first. Today’s word is for the loser of that toss-up: Maidens

Tasty Tuesday: Butterscotch Pudding
This week, I made butterscotch pudding. Except, I used bourbon instead of scotch, because bourbon is what I have in the house.
Butterscotch Pudding
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons cornstarch
8 egg yolks
pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon bourbon or scotch
Tasty Tuesday: Panna Cotta
Last week’s, but still, yummy.
Panna Cotta
2 1/2 tablespoons gelatin (I’m going to use less next time)
1 cup whole milk
3 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 vanilla bean
1/8 teaspoon salt

Around Town: WV Botanic Garden
I’d feel bad about never having been to the WV Botanic Garden before, except it’s relatively new.

Sunday Flower Pr0n: Early March Is Tricksy
Yesterday, we had a high of 58F. Today, we’re calling for snow. Not really snow of course, just flurries.
But on a more serious note, my first daffodil pictures last year were March 22. Everything is blooming crazy early this year.
