Not Up To Snuff

I had a particulary unpleasant dream the other night, and I’ve been trying to forget it, so here’s another attempt at exorcising this particular demon.

“The woman” wasn’t anyone I recognized, although the other two people were both once very important to me.
And it is rather unpleasant, so don’t say I didn’t warn you.

She walked me over towards the TV. I’m sure that to a casual watcher we looked as if we were acquaintances, or perhaps even friends, but it was only her threats that kept me there, and she knew it, and even seemed to enjoy it.

She turned to face me. “I’m sure you’re dying to know what this is.” Although her tone was quiet and pleasant, I heard the implied menace.
“You killed her and I know it,” I said, keeping my voice just as quiet as hers, although not at all pleasant. I wasn’t happy about this charade, but there was nothing I could do.
I’m not sure if she was surprised by my statement or not, for her face gave away nothing as she turned to start the video.

It has obviously been recorded on some type of handheld device, as the video was incredibly jumpy. The view started off in what seemed to be an empty living room, but then the camera swung around and showed D. holding up a woman whose head hung down, her long black hair obscuring her face. Although I knew immediately who it was, D. still grabed her hair and yanked her head up, showing J.’s face to the camera. It was as if he knew I would be watching and wanted to taunt me. He then let her head drop back down, grabbed her shoulders and threw her head first into the wall.

It was so sudden I hadn’t had time to look away, or to cover my ears from the hideous cracking sound. The camera swung back to D.’s grinning face, and then the the whole scene was paused.

“We really are serious,” she said. “It would be for the best if you went along with us.”
