It was another gorgeous Sunday. Only saw one other person with a camera, however.
While looking for items for the scavenger hunt, we came across a couple of these:

Yeah. Maybe repainting signs doesn’t work as well as they thought it would.

This is the scenery for part of the walk I made to and from school:

This is gonna be in a couple parts, because 1) I took a lot of pictures and 2) I have a lot of memories.
As I mentioned previously, every school I attended in Morgantown is gone, at least as a school. The first school I went to, Second Ward, is now an apartment complex (I have three pictures of it in my Flickr set) but the school for which I have the fondest memories was Second Ward Annex. It opened in 1939 as the Second Ward Negro school, but after desegregation, shifted to an annex to the main school.
I went to second and third grade there, and walked there and back every day.
This is the first view of the school, if you’re walking down White from Wilson (which I did).

Here is the second flight of steps up to the school.

Same place as we walked last week, only not as far. I know 24 F isn’t cold by some standards, but it was windy–especially along the river.
Mon river is just starting to freeze up, from where Decker’s Creek feeds into it. As warm as it’s been, I’m surprised there’s even this much ice.

This Sunday’s walk was quite different from last week’s walk. Michael thought that with the snowfall, the cemetery would be a nice place to walk. In retrospect, I’m not quite sure I agree with him.

These two gravestones always make me sad.

The weather cleared, so we took a walk on the rail trail today.
These are at and around the new construction on Beechurst. (Here’s a shot from last April.)

We also walked around campus Sunday afternoon. As I said, it was a gorgeous day.

I spent 12 years, from age 5 to 17 going to school.
Every school I attended has closed. Two of the buildings (St. Francis Elementary and St. Francis High School) were razed to the ground, one (Second Ward Elementary) was turned into an apartment complex (Disturbing: Having someone offer you alcohol while you’re standing in what was your first grade class room), one (Second Ward Annex) was being used for storage (last I checked, anyway, but that was several years ago), and this one–Central Elementary–was abandoned.
These pictures are for Paige and Justine, but I can’t see them truly thanking me for them.

As I mentioned yesterday, it was a lovely day for a stroll. In fact, I saw a LOT of people out with DSLRs. It was kinda weird. But I guess we were all drawn to the gorgeous light.
These were taken around downtown. I have two other sets, both of which need processed: one of campus and… another set.
If it wasn’t obvious earlier, I love windows, and I love it even more when the light is such that they act as mirrors.
Police station on Spruce street.

That’s right, our first decent snowfall.
Finally!

Some pretty sights yesterday.
