Pretty, but I wish I could get rid of it.
I realized yesterday why I really dislike working on Macs so much–because I find the interface chaotic and annoying.

That’s a screen capture of a small portion of what I was working with: Endnote for Word 2008. There are toolbars and windows and boxes lying over and under each other, and getting in the way of what I want to do.
And note you can’t see the menu–it’s on the top of the screen, no matter where the program window is, so if I have multiple programs open (like I did yesterday with EndNote and Word) I’ve got to move my attention from one part of the window to another, while hoping that whatever toolbars I need are not hidden behind something else.
It’s chaotic and I find it maddening. I don’t want my commands scattered all over the screen, I want them in one place, where I can quickly and easily find them (For what it’s worth, I can’t stand working in Photoshop for the same reason.) I don’t want part of my program hiding under other parts of the program. I want to select the program or window and have everything right there, neat and organized. I don’t want to have to hunt down my toolbars from wherever the hell I drug them to last time I used the program, when they were completely in the way.
And don’t even get me started on the fact that by default there is no right click on a Mac. First you scatter my commands to the four winds and then you won’t let me right click to access the commands that way?
How on earth can someone function in this environment without spending half their time looking for whatever it is they want?

Another picture taken with my camera phone; I liked the way the red of the rose stood out in the dreary greyness of the day.
It’s fall! And after temperatures in the 90s last week, I am more than ready for the rain and cooler temperatures.
To celebrate fall, today’s word is: leaf

Chocolate makes many things better.
Michelle: I’m trying not to be cranky.
Michael: It’s OK.
Michelle: No it’s not; I’m failing.
Michael: OK, going downstairs now.

The light was better just a few minutes earlier, but by the time we got to our destination, parked, and got out of the car, the sun (and the color) was gone.
Still liked the way the roof of the coliseum looked however.
The weather has finally turned cool, and although we still desperately need rain, all we got were cloudy skies.
Decided to wander around the main campus today with my camera. Probably should have gone earlier in the morning when there were fewer people, but I picked a few buildings I liked and shot pictures, ignoring the students wandering by.

Wandered around the downtown campus this afternoon (pictures of that tomorrow). The light was terrible, but I enjoyed the walk anyway.

Went to the Arboretum today. Didn’t go very far on the trails, as my ankle is not up to those kinds of hills yet, but it was a beautiful day, and nice to be walking around outside.

Noticed the leaves in the corridor as I was leaving work this afternoon. Took the picture with my camera phone, then cropped when I got home.
Pretty pleased, especially considering it was my camera phone. The other shot I took is up on Flickr (click through) but I liked this one a teeny bit better.

This was a picture I shot on Tuesday for my Picture a Day, but decided to go with another picture instead, so that left this one for Friday cat blogging. Which doesn’t really make this much different from yesterday’s Picture a Day, but, it is what it is.

Actually meant to try and get a picture outside today, but it was hot and I was tired and cranky, and then it was 9PM and I hadn’t taken any pictures, so, here we are.
