I’m a big fan of pumpkin, and pumpkin pie is probably Michael favorite food, although it may be tied with peanut butter, so every year, I get pie pumpkins and cook them down for pies and various pumpkin goodies throughout the year
I picked up pumpkins several weeks ago, but didn’t get to cook them down until today, which meant that one of them had gone bad in the interim. Luckily, it’s still early, so I can pick up more pumpkins next week if need be.

Sunday was spent primarily in the kitchen. I’d picked up pie pumpkins in October, but what with getting sick, I had not yet gotten around to converting my squash into puree for pie.
Yes, that’s right. Five pumpkins. We really like pumpkin pie around here.

What I am doing differently this year is making all the dough, scooping out balls for those cookies that are not shaped cookies, and the freezing the uncooked balls. This way, I can simply bake cookies as needed, giving me fresh cookies for the entire holiday season, instead of a freezer full of cookies that become more and more damaged as the holiday season progresses. (I scooped out the cookies, froze them on a cookie try, and then put them into ziplock bags.)
Of course I finished making all this cookie dough, and then decided that I was really in the mood for oreos. I did not, however, make any oreos.
