Wolf Gone Wild (2020) Juliette Cross (Stay a Spell)

Wolf Gone WildMateo Cruz has been cursed. He doesn’t know by whom, and he doesn’t know why, but he hasn’t been able to shift for months and his wolf is almost impossible to control and won’t cease his randy and bloodthirsty thoughts.

Evie Savoie helps her sisters run the family businesses. She desperately wishes to follow her dream, to create comics, but her ex convinced her she was no good, so now she concentrates on her magic–hex breaking.

A memory of Mom popped into my head.

“A good witch sees the truth, absorbs its goodness, and honors her gift.”

“But how do I honor it?” I asked her.

She cupped my chin and gave me her all-knowing Mom smile. “By sharing it with those in need.”

This is one of those books that is all about the boinking. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s not MY thing, so I was constantly skimming Alpha thinking about what he wanted to do to Evie, Mateo thinking about what he wanted to do with Evie, and Evie dreaming about Mateo.

One thing I did especially enjoy was Z.

That’s when I noticed Z crouched on the counter staring at me. I scooped him up in my free hand and slung his upper body over my shoulder. He let me carry him however I wanted, never putting up a fight.

I’ve actually seen cats that look like Z, but were not as sweet.

“So where did he get the name Z from?” Violet and Clara filed in right then.

Violet snorted as she took her seat. “It’s short for Zombie Cat.”

“Zombie Cat?” I forked a spoonful of shrimp, spicy tomato sauce, and white rice.

Clara beamed, reaching for a slice of French bread. “Z is special. He’s thirty years old.”

I looked at Evie. “Thirty? How is that even possible?”

And I understand this wish.

“You need to let this cat live out the rest of his life naturally.”

“He is. Just with a little help.”

“Isadora can’t keep him alive forever.”

“No,” I agreed aloud but not in my head, “but maybe for another twenty years or so?”

A really heavy sigh. “It’s unnatural. Cats don’t want to live that long.”

This just really wasn’t my thing.
