Joy (2017) C.S. Poe (Lancaster)
I pulled my cell out and opened the Internet browser to find out, but my signal dropped down to one shaky bar and nothing would load.
Fuck. Are you kidding me? I was maybe ten miles outside of Lancaster and the Internet ceased to exist?
Two days ago I’d been angry at him—angry for hitting his car and angry he showed no sympathy and angry he’d even existed.
It made him ugly to me.
“You didn’t fail.” I snorted.
“You didn’t,” Silas continued quietly. “Part of life is accepting there’s always someone better than you at something. It’s no reason to run away.”
