His Quiet Agent (2017) Ada Maria Soto (The Agency #1)

It was seven when he walked into Martin’s room and found him tying his tie. “Wes hAl,” he greeted him with one of the dozen phrases the children had managed to teach him.
Martin’s face had yet to retreat fully back into the silent blankness of work but it was headed that way. There was a flare of anger in Arthur’s mind that he knew was irrational. It wasn’t directed at Martin but at whatever it was, whatever happened, that made him feel he had to be The Alien around adults, but a smiling Merlin for the children.
Maybe there was a word in old English, lost to modern ears. Martin let him see the cracks that night and the smallest hint of what lay beyond. He wanted to know what was truly beneath those cracks but also knew he would fight anyone who tried to break Martin open. For that feeling, he knew of no words.
“You’re going to see her. See them.” There was a hiss in her voice that came out at no other time.
“I need to do this.”
“No, you don’t. They’re not-”
“They’re my half-sisters.” Arthur cut her off.
