Clumsy Is as Clumsy Does
Things not to do if you are clumsy:
Play with old, splintery broom handles
Walk down the stairs with your hands in your pockets
Wear platform shoes
Eat spaghetti while wearing white
Cross the street with your hands in your pockets
Juggle knives
Juggle fire
Wear open toed shoes
Run with scissors
Use a pocket knife that is not a lock blade
Some of these are [...]

Take THAT!
Today? Today is a day of accomplishing things and of money soon coming in.
First, we got back the results of our health screening from last week. PEIA does a thing where they cut you a check for being healthy. Michael and I both scored 100 out of 100, so we’ll both be getting $50 checks! [...]
Yeah. It’s Wednesday.
That means it’s not Monday, but otherwise, I’m not feeling the joy.
In the meantime, today’s word: Nathan

Well, It Isn’t Monday Anymore
But just to be safe, I think I’ll remain in hiding.
Leave a dish of milk out for me if you think about it.

Nope. No Monday Here.
I am in denial about today being Monday.
Please carry on as if this were not Monday.

Out They Go!
Just finished packing up more boxes of books, and will take them to the post office here shortly.
One surprise going out–no Shawn, it’s not you. ;)
Still have a large box left, but things are much better!
(And to the recipient of the surprise, if you already have these, then just send ‘em along to someone else.)

Save the Octopi!
If you remember back, a couple weeks ago I received a “gift” from John the Scientist: tentacles.
Luckily, my friend MWT is a marine biologist and volunteered to take the tentacles from me, and put them to good use.
Here is the result!
Hooray!

What? WHAT?!

That Is IT!
I am through using silicone mats when baking cookies.
Why, you ask?
Look at the difference between those two cookies!
So that’s it. No more. It’s parchment paper for me from here on out.
Once Upon a Time…
There was a small boy who liked pastries entirely too much.

Loving Your Enemies
7 November 1957
…
So I want to turn your attention to this subject: “Loving Your Enemies.” It’s so basic to me because it is a part of my basic philosophical and theological orientation—the whole idea of love, the whole philosophy of love. In the fifth chapter of the gospel as recorded by Saint [...]

Much Love
My thoughts right now are with my friend Shawn Powers, whose house just burned down.
All his family is OK, but they lost all their pets.
If you know Shawn, please lend him your support, even if it’s only in kind thoughts and words.
ADDENDUM the First:
Linux Journal has put together a page so donations can be made [...]
Out! Out! Out!
All requests from the Great Book Giveaway went out Saturday. Our favorite postal worker was at the counter, so we actually enjoyed the entire process (and there was someone at the other window, so we weren’t holding everyone up).
Oh. Hmmm… I just realized I forgot to send Susan’s books out. Ooops!
There are still lots [...]

What I’ve Been Reading: Baking Books
Between the holidays and the unusually cold weather, I’ve been baking up a storm.
Now, I love baking cookies, but after all the Christmas cookies I made, I wanted to make something different. Since I don’t like cake, I decided to try breads (pies are okay, but I find pie crust more frustrating than fun).
Now I [...]
