Wonder Woman, Vol. 1: Blood (2012) Brian Azzarello, Cliff Chiang, and Tony Akins

This is part of the DC New 52. I picked it up first as an ecomic, but could not get into it reading in that format–I can see the page as a whole OR I can read the text. Not both.

So eventually I got a paper copy, and since I’m already binging, decided to read this.

There were a lot of things I liked about this comic–including some of the art. Take this FREX. I like how those last four panels show you the story.

On the other hand, Strife seemed to come straight from Neil Gaiman‘s Sandman, and I found that very distracting.

As for the story, I thought it did a very good job giving someone with no Wonder Woman background a very clear idea who Wonder Woman was and what her priorities were–and even why to some degree.

However, much like the Thor story-line, I’m not sure that the wars of the gods interest me that much. At least, not as they’ve started out.

But I did enjoy it.
