Sunny with a vengeance that is.
Thursday morning it was 30 F. Right now it’s 87. Insanity I say, insanity!
But since the weather is nice, this morning I got up, scrubbed the deck and all the deck furniture, did a bit of gardening, and am now relaxing in the shade with a fantastic breeze blowing.
Of course the sun is going to come over the porch roof any time, now, and since the maples aren’t in bloom, it’s going to get sunny and hot. But until then, it is nice to be outside.
I’m just glad you can’t see how badly the deck needs painted in these pictures.
This morning the temperature was 30 and it had rained all night. This evening the weather was beautiful.

And all from my yard.
We have several lavender plants along the driveway. It’s nice to be able to stop and smell the lavender on the way to work.

Today has been busy in a rather boring way. The biggest excitement was getting “Furminator” for Kat and taking him outside for a good brushing. I highly recommend the Furminator for cats if you have a cat with a thick coat. Kit’s fur is thin and fine, so the tool won’t be going near her, but Kat has a very thick coat and sheds like nobody’s business.
Otherwise, we spent four hours getting lunch and running errands with Grandmom. No gardening done yet–perhaps around six or so. Or perhaps I’ll just nap.
If you desperately want something to read, I do have two new book reviews up.
Hope your Saturday has been pleasant.
Look what we found when we got home!

Daffodil edition.
I’m not a huge fan of the shade of yellow of most daffodils. But I do like the lighter yellow ones, and the multi colored ones. We have a variety blooming in my yard right now.
Gotta enjoy the spring flowers while they’re around.

Despite the forecast we had sun Saturday. I didn’t see a lot of it, but I did get out in the (squelchy wet) yard and check on my plants and take some pictures.

Here are some pictures from my yard–things are starting to bud.
I have two bleeding heart plants, an all white and the more typical pink and white. This is the pink and white, which seems to like it’s location and is now spreading. Hoorah! More plants! For free!

The crocuses are blooming. Glad I raked the beds so they could actually reach the light.
This isn’t flower pr0n, so I didn’t post it yesterday, but I loved these pictures and wanted to show them off.
It was 70 yesterday, so we raked the flower beds and now I can see the earliest bulbs starting to come up.
Additionally, Michael got me a macro lense for my digital camera for Christmas (that just came a few weeks ago), so I was able to really try out the lens for the first time yesterday.
What did I think? I think I’m starting to want an SLR. I really liked the pictures I got, but focusing wasn’t always the easiest thing to do.
(If you click through on any of the pictures, there are a couple additional pictures in my Flick account.)
Here’s the front bed after being raked. (For a reminder, here’s how the bed looked last July.) Michael wanted to make sure I got a picture of him working.
The first flower of spring: the pussy willows are blooming. I cut a bunch of stems and they’re now sitting in a vase by Grandmom’s chair in the living room.

There is too much CRAP in my HOUSE!
It must GO! It must GO NOW!
Must! Organize! Computer Room!
ADDENDUM the First:
Anyone still use zip drives? I’ve got a zip 250 and discs that I haven’t touched in multiple years.
We have a single pink-red tulip, that somehow ended up in the kitchen.
Yesterday at dinner I realized its unfolding bloom had weighted it down until it was resting its head upon the mixer.
I really liked the way it looked.
