For the past couple months, the passenger’s side window has been making a strange clanking noise when you open it. As it did nothing but rain for most of that time, we didn’t worry about it. But last week when temperatures skyrocketed along with gas prices, it suddenly became a concern. Since Morgantown gets more rain than Seattle, having a window that won’t go up or some other problem is right out.
So last week Michael and I both said that we needed to get the window fixed, which is usually the start of a couple weeks of discussion before something actually happens.
Well, something happened Friday.
That was a letter from Toyota saying that there was a recall (or whatever the heck it is) for the listed model years of Corollas, because bolts in the front windows could work loose and cause problems. I believe the letter said something about how the window could “shatter, distracting the driver.”
You think?
So the car is at the dealer right now, getting the window(s) fixed. And then we’ll be able to unroll both front windows without fear of “distracting the driver”.
Assuming it ever stops raining.
I was trying to figure out how to do a couple things today in Photoshop (I had a class this morning and got some new questions) so I made a UCF logo while playing.
I still find text/type frustrating, but at least I understand it a bit more now.

Everyone else has been saying it, so I wasn’t going to say anything, but then I realized that it’s important to say something, because silences can be taken as tacit approval or disapproval.
So here it is:
I am thrilled and delighted that California is allowing same sex couples to get married. I think this is one of the best things that has happened in years.
I’ve been married now for 9 1/2 years, and I think there is something awesome about standing up and saying, “I love this person! I want to spend the rest of my life with this person!”
Marriage is an amazing thing. It’s a way of saying before the world that this is the person I love. No matter what, I am going to stick with this person and they are going to stick with me, because we complete each other.
I think that the more people that can say this and mean it and stick with it, the better the world will be.
Because really, how can the world have too much love?
Last week temperatures were in the 90s. The week before it was rain. Now we’re back to rain:

Oh, I forgot to mention that there’s another round robin (w)riting game going on.
Sign up and comments at Nathan’s place.
The story of Charlotte Misner. I wrote Chapter 4.
Happy Father’s day, to all guys out there with kids!
Just so you can see I come by it naturally, here’s a picture of my dad, with his horde of Easter Egg Dippers.

And thoroughly tired of being in the car.
I’ll have to check the trip odometer, so I can see how many miles we were in the car since Thursday morning.
Now… food of some sort.
ADDENDUM the First:
922.4 miles since Thursday morning.
I think when we go to replace this car, I want something a little larger than our Corolla. As I spent almost half the trip(s) in the back seat, a little more space would be nicer.
ADDENDUM the Second:
Why is exhaustion indistinguishable from depression?
I’ll be gone most of the weekend. Here’s some clematis flower pr0n to entertain you momentarily.

Otherwise, make yourself at home.
No chocolate cookies, sorry. It’s been too hot to bake. But Michael has Linenkugel’s, Killian’s, and Blue Moon in the fridge.
Mr. Furry used to do this all the time, but we hadn’t seen it for awhile. Apparently it’s because only Grandmom’s chair is appropriate now, and since she’s usually in it, he hasn’t been able to indulge in stretching out his front paws.

Now that it’s warm, Kat and Kit are spending more time curled up in the window together.

If it weren’t for the fact that Kat is drooling, it’d be cute picture.
But just barely.
I drove all the way from Morgantown to Va yesterday, and then drove until back we were off I270. And then I felt absolutely terrible. I should have known better than to push myself that hard as sick as I’ve been (I don’t do well on long car trips).
But that’s enough whining, he’s a celebratory picture from yesterday.

That mop of hair is me helping Liz do a celebration dance in the kitchen.
As gas prices continue to reach unprecedented heights, I’ll be driving to Virginia this week.
Twice.
My cousin Liz (my secret twin) graduates from high school tomorrow, and turns 18 on Saturday.

She is two weeks and two days shy of being exactly twenty years younger than I am, although she is too kind (so far) to point that out to me.
I’m going to write her a letter to put in her graduation card, but I haven’t decided exactly what I’m going to say.
I’ve got some of the important stuff written out in my mind, but there’s so much I’m forgetting. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
But do it quick. We’re leaving disgustingly early tomorrow morning.
In case you aren’t a public radio junkie and haven’t heard that ad about, oh, four million times, you may want to check out Catalog Choice.
It allows you to tell companies to stop sending you catalogs if you don’t want them. Now I actually like getting catalogs–some catalogs. But when we’re getting two copies of the same catalog, and catalogs I’ve never heard of and so won’t buy from, that is just a little excessive.
Maybe that’ll allow me to enjoy the catalogs I do get just a little more.
