This is an interlude rather than a proper novella / short story. We saw Gray and Scottie meet in the previous story. This story shows Gray looking after the twins…

“You two doing all right?” Gray crouched down by their table to avoid towering over them. He saved intimidation by looming for those who deserved it.

…and deciding he wants Scottie to be his new Sub (even if Scottie has no idea he is a sub).

…whether Scottie showed up or not. It would tell him everything he needed to know about the man.

Is he genuinely interested? Am I? Are the glimpses of the man underneath the blustering punk actually there?

We see Scottie continue to fall apart.

He’d never possessed the tools to deal with the chaos of emotions in his life. It always funnelled into anger. The rage burned in him.

But also get glimpses of who he could be, if he ever dealt with his issues.
