The Entanglement of Rival Wizards

The Entanglement of Rival Wizards (2025) Sara Raasch (Magic and Romance #1)

This is the book that precedes The Fake Divination Offense. I’d initially skipped it because although the world building sounded fascinating, I usually dislike enemies to lovers. Which this is.

But much of it worked for my anyway, because it was academic rivals, and the enemies portion stemmed from one character’s family and the history the other character had with that family’s companies.

Because I’d read the second book first, I knew going in that Seb had very good grounds for disliking and mistrusting the entire Tourael family. What I didn’t know was how Elethior fit into that family and how that was going to affect Seb and Orok.

One of my favorite things about this series is the strong friendship between Orok and Seb, and how they aren’t afraid to show love and affection.

Ivo points between Orok and me. “Back up. You two are constantly hanging off each other, and you mean to tell me you’re not fucking? Are you serious?” He looks at Orok. “Do you have any idea how many of my friends have asked for your number, and I always brush them off with a sorry, he’s basically married?”

“Two masculine people can’t be physically affectionate without being in a relationship,” I say, “but if two feminine people were, they’d be cuddly friends, right? Neanderthals.”

Which is good because they do need each other, even if in the past co-dependency was a worry.

Anger wafts up in a sweeping cloud, filling in the spot where fear tries to go.
One of the therapists called it PTSD.

But it isn’t. I’m fine.

Spoiler: It is PTSD.

But Seb is slowly becoming fine, and very much supports Orok’s therapy journey.

As with the other book, there was a LOT of boinking here, but I was good skimming and didn’t feel like there were any gaping holes because of that skimming.

And now I need to search out any other books by Sara Raasch I already have.
