Let’s Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir) (2012) Jenny Lawson
As readers of my twitter stream and blog already know, I love The Bloggess.
I fully admit she isn’t for every. After all, this is the woman whose tag line could (and should) be “knock knock motherfucker”
But if she does amuse you (as she does many of us) then you should read Let’s Pretend This Never Happened. Or at least her blog.
But really, you should read the book.
If you read the book you’ll learn how Jenny developed her unhealthy love of taxidermied animals (who died of natural causes) wearing clothing. You’ll learn how she met Victor (and of Victor’s proposal) (and of the first time Victor met her father). You’ll also read about her battle with general anxiety disorder, her miscarriages, her diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, and how she she struggled with all these things, but came out mostly okay anyway.
Oh, you’ll also read of some of the things that happened while she worked in human resources (hint: men like to take pictures of their penises and then email the pictures to co-workers).
But mostly, you’ll just learn what it means to be Furiously Happy.
My only complaint is that the pictures (proof of things such as bread bag winter shoes) were too small to see clearly.
