Rat Queens Vol. 1: Sass & Sorcery (2013) Kurtis Wiebe and Roc Upchurch
Let’s just get this out of the way:
NOT FOR KIDS! TOTALLY NOT FOR KIDS!
However, if you’re an adult?
I LOVED it!
The Rat Queens are a band of mercenaries in the town of Palisade, and many in the town are tired of the amount of destruction they and the other local mercenaries are wreaking on the town. It’s not the fighting off of monsters as much as the partying that follows the fighting.
This is somewhat standard RPG, except that the main characters are all women–a mage, a cleric, a dwarf, and a halfling, as a group they’re pretty much chaotic neutral, but as individuals they’re, well, not lawful, but they’re certainly good.
I really enjoyed this, and look forward to the next volume.
