Blue Lily, Lily Blue, Audio Version (2014) Maggie Stiefvater narrated by Will Patton

I DON’T WANT THIS STORY TO END.

I mean, SO MUCH LOVE.

“Spruce Knob. Highest peak in West Virginia. Forty-five hundred feet or something like that?”

“Highest peak in Virginia?” echoed Malory.

“West,” said Gansey and Adam at the same time.

“West Virginia,” Gansey repeated.

One of his bags was open and Blue could see that it was entirely filled with books. This struck her as impractical and Gansey-like and made her feel a bit more benevolent toward the professor.

In Blue’s experience, everyone who lived in remote tired farmhouses generally looked friendly, until they didn’t.

Also: Jesse Ditley.

“Do you think we could go in?” Gansey asked. “Not now, but coming back with proper equipment?”

Jesse peered at him and then at Malory and finally at Blue. “I LIKE THE LOOKS OF YOU, SO —”

He shook his head.

“NO.”

Blue was not so much a terrible driver as a terrified one. Because she had not, as Jesse Dittley pointed out, eaten her greens, she had to adjust the seat as close to the pedals as possible. She clutched the steering wheel with the grace of a performing bear. Everything on the dash shouted for her attention. Lights? Speed! Air on face? Air on feet! Fuel-oil-engine! Strange bacon symbol?

STRANGE BACON SYMBOL!

(I)t wasn’t really the cave that was cursed; it was something in the cave.

“And it kills Dittleys,” Blue said, “and does terrible things to my friend.”

“YOUR DEAD FRIEND,” Jesse noted, sitting down opposite her at the tiny drop-leaf table. The mirror lay between them, facedown.

“That’s not his fault. Why didn’t you say you could see him?”

“I DIDN’T SAY I COULD SEE YOU, EITHER.”

“But I’m not dead,” Blue pointed out.

“BUT YOU ARE PRETTY SHORT.”

I just don’t want this series to end–even though I’m now halfway through the last book, and my heart is breaking all over again.
