London Falling, Audio Book (2014) Paul Cornell narrated by Damian Lynch (The Shadow Police #1)
Trigger Warnings: there are not detailed descriptions, but if a bad thing can happen, it likely happens in this series.
“Might as well look as if we’re together,” said Sefton, under his breath, as he pressed the tea bag against the side of his cup to try and force out a bit of flavor. “Seeing we’re the only black guys in here.”
“The New Age,” agreed Costain, “does not recruit in line with best practice.
“What are you intended for?” asked Quill. “Spying for her? Warning her?”
“Not at all. I was made to agree with her. The head on the stairs is for warning her.”
“Did she make that too?”
“Why, yes, obviously.” And now Quill felt patronized by a cat.
“‘Sodomite?’” said Costain, as if it had just occurred to him, looking at Sefton.
Sefton looked long and hard at him. “You didn’t know?”
Costain shook his head. Sefton kept the look going. “I didn’t.”
“Okay,” said Sefton finally and looked away.
Quill had known it, actually, but he didn’t think now would be a great time to chime in.
