Thor Vol. 2: Who Holds the Hammer? (2016) Jason Aaron, Russell Dauterman, Matthew Wilson, Jason Aaron, Noell Stevenson, CM Punk

This is the second volume of Thor, Goddess of Thunder, and I’m finding that my lack of grounding in the Marvel mythos and history is starting to become a problem. It felt like there was a lot going on that I missed–even with the annoying backstory bits.

Might Thor

So there were some things that I really liked–such as Freyja getting pissed off at Odin for being an ass, and generally being pretty awesome.

However, those bits were offset by things like this:

Might Thor

Really? In the middle of a battle we dedicate a third of a page to saying Thor is hot? That’s… silly.

It’s like they had to stick that in there just to offset all the “girly stuff” or something.

And the second half of the book–after the big reveal as to who The Goddess of Thunder is when she’s at home, I just… wasn’t at all interested in most of it–although I did like the bit where Thor’s granddaughters try to cheer him up by recreating “earth” animals.

So, this was… fine.
