All the Wrong Places (2016) Ann Gallagher (Bluewater Bay)
I needed to read an ace romance, and I feel like I’ve reread them all recently, so this one it was.
Brennan is a semi-pro skater who has had terrible luck with all his girlfriends and doesn’t understand what’s wrong with him.
Zafir is a single dad trying to do his best.
And to not be be completely overprotective of his son.
“(W)e all still managed to get banged up, so she’d just get even more strict, but she had no clue that she was making it worse.” Sighing, I shook my head. “Every scare tactic news article meant new rules, and every new rule meant all of us rebelling even harder.”
So he decides that he’ll actually let his son learn how to skateboard once he meets and becomes friends with Brennan.
“You really wouldn’t mind?”
“Of course not. I mean, I don’t know if I’d trust me with, like, a toddler because I don’t know how toddlers work, but…”
This story does have a misunderstanding / break-up towards the end, however, considering the characters it wasn’t unreasonable. Even if Brennan was being stupid.
But Zafir is a lovely father and Tariq is a really well written kid who is not a plot moppet.
