Clockwork Boys (2017) T. Kingfisher (Clocktaur War, #1)

Clockwork BoysThis is a rare book: one that I listened to before I read. (Honestly, at the time I was desperate for distraction and wasn’t really able to concentrate on reading.)

I still enjoyed it, and as it has been two years, managed to forget just enough that there were surprises (“Oh, I forgot that!”)

“Are you sure you wouldn’t like some nice murderers instead?” he asked plaintively.

“Quite sure, thanks.”

Thieves with cutthroat accounting skills aren’t exactly common.

Of course, those surprises might also have been because I wasn’t really able to concentrate the first go round.

Regardless, I quite enjoyed it, and liked being able to go back and reread bits that amused me.

“Gnole medicine?”

“Lick it till it feels better. Then eat grass. Works every time.”

“As your physician,” said Learned Edmund testily, “I do not recommend that.”
