The Missing Page (2022) Cat Sebastian (Page & Sommers #2)

The Missing PageSet in Cornwall in 1947

“The letter from the solicitor said the uncle’s will stipulated that all legatees attend the reading at the family home in Cornwall or forfeit their bequest.”

Leo’s eyebrows shot straight up. “Was it his uncle’s dying wish to reenact a radio drama?”

“He’s too kind to hold a grudge about such a thing even if he ought to,” Camilla went on.

“Daresay you’re right.” Leo, on the other hand, would happily carry all James’s grudges for him.

You could invite a snake into your home and that didn’t mean it was a good idea. Not that Leo had any intention of leaving. He was too selfish for that. He wasn’t nearly noble enough to walk away.

“I mean,” he went on, “I know you like me best. Which makes me sound like a petulant child, and I do wish you’d say something or that perhaps a tree would fall on my head to shut me up because—”

Leo pulled him behind a high garden wall and took his face between cold, dry hands. “To say that I like you best may be understating the case.”
