This is the conclusion to Pip’s story. He’s lived with Charles and Gavin long enough to regain his trust in people, and he is slowly, finally, come to trust himself.

I’m not going anywhere. There’s no hurry, Pip.”

Bertie so rarely said his name that Pip took a moment to consider his words. “I know,” he said at last. He heaved a sigh. “You’ve been so patient with me. And I’m sure you know how much I appreciate it. But,” he said, setting his cup aside. “I wish I didn’t need your patience so very much.”

Gerry and Basil have just gotten married, so the spell shop is closed for a week while the two go on their honeymoon, and Seb is spending every day (all day) with Laurence before he has to head back to London.

Charles and Gavin were waiting up for him in their usual manner—which is to say, they were trying to look like they weren’t waiting up for him, and acted surprised that he had come home at all.

This is a small, slow story. It’s Pip spending time with Bertie as they work on a project together, and slowly coming to build new memories.
