Lady Odelia’s Secret, Audio Book

Lady Odelia’s Secret, Audio Book (2018) Jane Steen narrated by Elizabeth Klett (Scott-De Quincy Mysteries #2)

Set in Sussex, England in 1882

I felt Michael—who hated to touch, or be touched by, other people—flinch as I rested my fingertips as lightly as possible on his arm.

“I enjoy reading about people who are real to me for a short time, knowing that if terrible things happen to them, I can comfort myself in knowing they have no existence but in the writer’s head.”

I had worked myself up into that mood where one refuses to seek relief for one’s ills.

There’s nothing more attractive to men than a young, pretty, and wealthy widow in lavender.
