The Bellingham Mystery Series Volume 2 (2015) Nicole Kimberling
One Man’s Treasure
Birds of a Feather
Pentimento Blues
This book starts in 2011. Which is important since events changed quickly in the world (specifically the legality of gay marriage).
“But,” Kjell continued, his brow still crumpled in confusion, “am I supposed to have card?”
It was Peter’s turn to blink in confusion. “For what?”
“To prove my wife and I are married,” he said, as though the relationships were completely equivalent. “If she goes into the hospital or something?”
“No, I don’t think they issue Official Husband cards. I’m pretty sure if you went to the hospital and said you were Carrie’s husband, they would just believe you.” Nick fielded that one.
And other things.
Curse you landline, thought Peter bitterly.
The two are just lovely.
Peter hated it when Nick played this reasonableness card. He had no defense against it.
And I do like that she writes from just one POV.
But mostly Peter is fun.
“If you stay, you’re just going to get mad and start a fight.”
“You can’t know that.”
Nick let out a short, sharp laugh. “Baby, you’re already doing it. Just the sight of this guy makes you see red.”
While this was undeniably true, the sheer veracity of it further infuriated Peter.
