I reread the second book, so then I had to go back and reread the first book.
“Em.” Lord Durnham watched as his sister ushered her children out the door in front of her with disbelief. “I don’t understand . . .” He caught Charlotte’s eye as she waited for Ned to go through first, and Charlotte stared straight back.
“I’m sure you will, if you think about it enough,” she murmured.
Then she closed Lord Durnham’s front door in his face.
No matter how improbable she is, I love Charlie.
“I learned long ago to refuse to take the blame for things I had nothing to do with.
The woman was laughing, but desperately, as if this would be the only time she would laugh for a month, and she wanted to make sure she laughed long and loud.
And I also like Edward.
“I seem to have caused a stir last night at Lady Crowder’s ball. And my name is being linked to Miss Raven’s—”
“That isn’t her fault.” Catherine drew herself up, as if ready for battle.
“It is mine, and mine alone.” He spoke calmly, soothing the lioness.
WHo recognizes and admits when he is wrong.
