Paladin’s Grace (2020) T. Kingfisher (The Saint of Steel #1)

Paladin's GraceAfter finishing The Vampire Gideon’s Suicide Hotline and Halfway House for Orphaned Girls I needed something to made my brain feel better, and since after reading Daggerbound I wanted to read more Kingfisher, this seems the perfect choice.

He and Istvhan had exhausted the weapon possibilities of everything in the room, from the banners to one of the courtier’s hats, which had an entire stuffed egret on it. Even Shane had chimed in on that one. Beartongue eventually told them that if they didn’t stop trying to make her laugh in front of the Motherhood priest, she’d throw them in the stockade.

“You don’t have a stockade,” said Stephen.

“You will get to build one so that I can throw you in it!”

“Well, that does seem practical.”

“That’s the Rat’s priests for you,” said Istvhan. “Always very practical.”

“I bet the Motherhood’s got a stockade.”

“Next time, I am leaving you three at the temple.”

Shane made a quiet sound of protest. “Don’t lump me in with these two.”

“I will excommunicate everyone and no one will get to go the circus.”

“I’ve got willow tea,” he said.

“Bless you. My lands and wealth are yours.”

“So…that’s a couple baskets of yarn, right?”

“And a half-knit sweater.”

Zale was too experienced to wince, but Stephen watched them write the word shit three times on the paper in front of them, in an elegant copperplate hand.
