Dead Heat (2016) Patricia Briggs

The fourth book in the Alpha & Omega series, and I think the end of my Patricia Briggs re-read binge.

One of the things I particularly like about this story is the interaction between the kids.

“Shut your piehole, punk kid,” Max said, thumping her on the head with the palm of his hand.

“I’m telling Mama you said ‘Shut your piehole,’” Michael said. “‘ Shut your piehole’ is a bad word.”

“‘ Shut your piehole’ is three words, Michael,” said Mackie.

Undaunted, Michael said, “I’m telling Mama you used three bad words.”

Those conversations actually tell us as much about the parents as they do the kids, and I thought it was particularly well done.
