Julie Smith

The first American woman since 1956 to win the 1991 Edgar Awards given by the Mystery Writers of America for Best Novel. Even so her novels are very good and I highly recommend them. Her Skip Langdon mysteries are about a New Orleans police detective. The Rebecca Schwartz mysteries are about a private attorney in San Francisco, and although I didn't enjoy them as much as her Skip Langdon novels, I did like them.

Rebecca Schwartz: Death Turns A Trick (1982), The Sourdough Wars (1984), Tourist Trap (1986), Dead In The Water (1991), Other People's Skeletons (1993)

"A Match Made In Hell" in Sara Paretsky's anthology A Woman's Eye.
