Naked in Death (2995)
It only took a year, but I finally finished Naked in Death. I'm not saying it was a bad book, I just couldn't get into, wasn't enamored of the characters, and to top it all off, it was a science Romance/near-future boinking book.
This is the first Eve Dallas book, where we are supposed to get to know Eve and her paramour Roarke, while Eve attempts to discover who has killed the high-end prostitute granddaughter of a pro-morals Senator.
Here's the thing, I liked the mystery. I just had no interest in the relationship between Eve and Roarke. Or in spending much time with Roarke, to be honest. It was very much a case of, "ENOUGH ALREADY! Get back to the mystery!" Yeah, Eve has an ugly past. Yeah, Roarke is a bit of a knave and has his own secret past. Whatever. So yeah, I would have finished the book a whole lot sooner if I'd been able to fast forward through all the boinking bits.
