The Wolf at the Door (2018) Charlie Adhara (Big Bad Wolf)

The Wolf at the DoorWerewolves, but not quite how most popular culture described them.

The Trust had explained werewolves had always existed, living amongst humans, but due to persecution had slipped quite intentionally into hiding and mythology.

I really like her take on werewolves, and the world building of the series.

The public could never know about werewolves, though. That was one of the few things the BSI and the Trust agreed on. The panic, the prejudice, the senseless violence that would surely come if the truth was revealed.

I especially like the confusion and mess and politics of law enforcement and bureaucracy trying to deal with it.

Only in a couple of cases had they needed to go back and rework the case. It wasn’t the most efficient process, but then neither was a job recruitment that couldn’t explain the details of the job until after the contract had been signed.

Excellent world-building, excellent mystery.
