Loot for ME!

I got LOOT today!

OOK!

Which Discworld Character are you like (with pics)
created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as The Librarian

You’re the Librarian! Once a wizard, now an Orang-utan (due to an unfortunate magical accident), you refuse to be turned back for a few reasons: In this form, it’s easier to reach the shelves and hold more books; having the strength of five men makes people return their books on time; life’s great philosophical questions boil down to “when do I get my next banana?” You say “ook” but are usually understood well enough.

Please Leave a Message after the Pithy Remark

We apologize, but we are unable to entertain you today.

Please accept one of the following excuses:

Kat_0007

I am unable to be entertaining because the cat ate my mouse.
I am unable to be entertaining because 12 pounds of cat is demanding my attention.
I am unable to be entertaining because the cat got behind my computer and pulled out all the plugs.
I am unable to be entertaining because I cannot see my computer screen.

Once you have selected your desired excuse, please move into the lounge and relax until entertainment returns.

Time Wasting

This was rather fun. If nothing else, I liked looking at the different pictures.

Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test…

NFPS – The Guru

Nature, Foreground, Big Picture, and Shape

You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on what’s in front of you (the foreground) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to deal directly with whatever comes your way without dealing with speculating possibilities or outcomes you can’t control. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable.

Though I have to say I really like the picture associated with my “personality type” even if I think the description is pretty vague so as to match lots of people.

Boo Hiss

I’m cranky.

I had a rotten day.

The back of my neck hurts from stress.

I hate the first week of classes.

Tasty Tuesday

I cobbled (HA!) together this recipe in college. My only problem with it is that my house is small, and I hate heating up the kitchen in the summer. But it’s worth it.

Blueberry Cobbler

Filling:
2 pints blueberries
3/4 to 1 cup sugar
2 tbsp corn starch
1 to 2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp butter

Biscuit:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
1/8/ tsp salt
4 tbsp butter
1 egg
1/2 cup milk or cream

Preheat oven to 375 F

Put filling ingredients in a saucepan. Heat to boiling stirring occasionally, and then boil for 5 minutes, until sauce thickens.

Remove from heat.

Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Cut in butter. (I do this step in a food processor.) mix together egg and mix. Add to flour mixture and mix together until flour is just moist. (Do NOT over mix).

Pour blueberry mixture into a 1 1/2 to 2 quart buttered pyrex dish. Spoon dough onto blueberries. If desired, sprinkle sugar over the top of the dough.

Bake at 375 for 30 minutes, until topping is golden brown.

If desired, serve with vanilla ice cream, fresh whipped cream.

Eat.

NOTE: Place a tray underneath the pan, because this is a mess to clean from the bottom of the oven.

Headlines, Part the Second

NOTE: I apologize. I know I’ve not covered everyone, but this is where things led me. I’ll try and rectify my exclusions later.

You were asking about the UCF? Here’s a scrapbook of headlines and articles that tell the story.

Headlines, Part the First

Once again, the UCF is playing games.

Jeri came up with the idea of writing headlines for the members of the UCF.

Of course you don’t have to be a member of the UCF to do so, and are thus welcome to post your headlines about me here.

Because I’m a difficult person, I’ll be posting my stories/headlines here. Things are pretty busy, but I’ve been writing snippets all morning whenever a have a few moments of free time (and I do mean moments, it’s been pretty busy). I’ll post them when I get a batch done.

And here’s Jeri’s headline for me:

Earning a sizeable reward from the FBI for spotting and turning in a top-ten most wanted fugitive annoying users in her computer lab, Michelle recently took a leave of absence to prepare for and win the the Ghirardelli Chocolate Bake-off. She was awarded the Mythopoeic Fantasy award for her novel Toasters in the Night, and notably thanked her friends in the UCF for inspiration and non-linear ideas.

Odds and Ends

Classes start today.

This means that traffic is going to be unbearable all week. I may skip our mid-week trip to the grocery store on Wednesday/Thursday if things are still bad by then.

I’m going to spend most of the week sitting and the front desk, not only because we have two brand-new GAs, and not only because none of the GAs have worked during a fall semester start, but because we’re probably going to be extremely busy, and the faster we can help people and get them logged in, the better.

The weekend was pleasant. My aunt, uncle, and cousins came by Saturday afternoon to visit with my grandmother. That’s always fun, if a little crazy.

Oh, I printed the stills I took from the Flip. I printed two stills on a single sheet 4×6 photo paper, and they looked fantastic. I don’t think I could have printed them much larger, but they looked surprisingly good. (I have one copy to my grandmother, and mailed another copy to my cousin’s grandfather.)

Which reminds me, I love my new printer. I printed out some flower pictures to send to Michael’s grandmother, and I couldn’t tell them came from a printer. (Usually you can look at a picture and tell it was printed; these are really good pictures.)

Otherwise, don’t expect much this week. I’m writing several posts early (right now is actually Sunday night, but this will be posted Tuesday morning). But I expect to be busy.

Which means I’ll spend a long time at the front desk surfing the web, probably.

Shetland Cows

So in college my friends and I had a running joke that we were going to invent Shetland Cows. These cows would live in the window boxes of Eat ‘N’ park, and we would never have to wait for a waitress to bring us cream for our coffee ever again.

Well, the future is here.

Miniature Cows.

That’s right, someone has gone and made our dream of Shetland Cows come true.

This means it is only a matter of time before our next crazy idea comes true: talking cows.

Imagine driving down the highway, yelling “MOO!” out the window at passing cows, and having the cow respond to you, “Moo, mother fucker, moo.”

I can hardly wait!

Sunday Flower Pr0n

Not much new is happening in the garden. I’ve never managed to overwinter mums, so I don’t have too many fall flowers. Though chances are I’ll end up buying some mums (again) and planting them in any blank spots (which are getting harder and harder to come by.

Anti-Whining

I just wanted to say that the weather has been gorgeous this weekend.

Right now it’s 70 F and sunny.

Yesterday, when my aunt, uncle, and cousins came by, we got to have dinner on the deck. Temperatures were in the lower 80s initially, but half the deck is in the shade, and there was a lovely breeze.

We had turkey burgers and chicken dogs and blueberry cobbler (HA! Now I know what I’m posting on Tuesday!)

All in all it was an awesome afternoon.

Division of Labor

First, you can tell Michael is married, because he did not wear this shirt to work today to deal with the overwrought parents of freshmen.

Second, as I was cleaning the house this morning, I discovered Michael and I have a distinct division of labor.

Which is why I didn’t know where the power switch was on the vacuum.

In my defense we have a single rug upstairs, everything else is hardwood and linoleum. So we don’t vacuum a lot.

But still.
