At the Prince Regents dinner party, the beautiful young wife of an elderly marquis is found dead–stabbed in the back, her clothing partially undone.

Jarvis immediately starts to cover up the prince’s involvement, but he draws Sebastian in with the mention that the necklace the young woman was found wearing was one that had been worn by Sebastian’s mother–the day she sailed off and was never seen again, presumably lost at sea.
