Parker Ferro is a supernatural PI. His case seems simple enough–exorcise the ghost haunting a popular rental. But someone has called the cops, claiming a prowler had broken into the house, so now Parker has to deal with a homophobic cop, an alchemist cop who doesn't believe in ghosts, and a really angry spirit.

The world is interesting, and although the world building didn't tell us a lot, it was clear enough for a short novella. And the things I thought were weak points were most likely due to the shorter format.

For instance, aside from being a bully, there weren't really any signs King's partner was homophobic, so Parker's response didn't make a lot of sense, except for letting King know Parker was gay–and to keep Richmond from searching his bag.

Same for the kiss at the end. It wasn't really logical, but as this was a romance short story, the author probably felt some romance was needed besides flirting.

So, not bad, and I want to see more of the world building.
